Charcoal panels — often sold as charcoal louvers or charcoal fluted panels — are a composite board with a distinctly matte, low-sheen face. Where a glossy PVC panel reflects the room, charcoal absorbs light. That single difference is why people who want a calm, natural, hotel-like bedroom almost always end up choosing it.
It is the closest finish to real timber that we can install without the warping, the termite treatment and the polishing cycle that real wood brings with it.

Charcoal or standard PVC — how to choose
Both are good products. They suit different rooms, and the honest answer depends on where the wall is and how the room is lit.
- Choose charcoal when you want warmth and a natural, matte, timber-like surface — bedrooms, living rooms, quiet reception areas.
- Choose standard PVC when the wall is genuinely wet, when you want a gloss or stone finish, or when budget is the deciding factor.
- Charcoal photographs better. Matte surfaces do not throw camera flash back, which matters for salons, studios and anything you will post.
- Standard PVC handles water better. Inside a shower zone, PVC is the safer specification.
Where charcoal panels work best
- Bedroom headboard walls — the single most popular use; the matte finish keeps the room restful.
- Living room feature walls, especially with warm concealed lighting.
- Ceilings and beams, where the low sheen avoids glare from downlights.
- Reception and waiting areas in clinics, salons and offices.
- Wardrobe and door shutters finished to match the wall behind them.
- Partition screens — louver profiles let light through while separating two areas.
Living with a charcoal finish
Charcoal panels are wipe-clean like the rest of the range. The matte surface also hides fingerprints better than gloss. It does not show the smudges that make a high-shine wall look dirty within a week.
Because the finish is naturally low-sheen, it works with almost any lighting temperature. Warm white light brings out the timber tones; cooler light makes the same panel read greyer and more contemporary. It is worth deciding the bulb temperature and the panel colour together, and we will show you both at the site visit.
