Lower PVC Panels & Dado Panelling
Panelling for the bottom half of the wall — the part that actually takes the damage. Chairs, trolleys, shoes, mops and rising damp all attack the same three feet.
Walk down any corridor in a school, a clinic or a busy home and look at where the paint has failed. It is almost never at eye level. It is the lower three or four feet: scuff marks from shoes and chair backs, trolley knocks, mop splash, and rising damp coming up from the floor.
Lower panelling — dado panelling — covers exactly that zone in a hard, washable, waterproof surface, and leaves the upper wall painted. You get the durability where it is needed at a fraction of the cost of panelling the whole wall.

Why panel only the lower wall
- It is where the damage happens. Panelling the full wall costs more and solves a problem you do not have above shoulder height.
- It stops rising damp showing. Where moisture wicks up from the floor, paint blisters. PVC does not.
- Washable. Scuffs, shoe marks and mop splash wipe straight off.
- It defines a room. A clean horizontal dado line with a moulding above it reads as considered rather than plain.
- Far cheaper than full-height panelling while removing most of the repainting cycle.
Where lower panelling earns its keep
- Schools, coaching centres and playschools — the most punished walls of all.
- Clinics, hospitals and labs — wipe-clean surfaces at trolley height.
- Corridors, staircases and lobbies in homes and apartment buildings.
- Offices and showrooms, particularly along circulation routes.
- Dining rooms, where chair backs mark the wall behind.
- Utility areas and washrooms, where mop splash ruins paint within a season.
Height, profile and finish
The usual dado height is around three to four feet from floor level, finished with a capping moulding along the top edge. Lower and it stops protecting the zone that matters; higher and the room can start to feel closed in, particularly in a narrow corridor.
For commercial and institutional work, most clients choose a plain or lightly textured panel in a mid tone — it hides marks between cleans. For homes, wood-grain and fluted profiles are more common, often matching a feature wall elsewhere in the room. We will bring samples to the site visit.
